Your Travel Health Guide To Ensure a Safe And Healthy Travel

So are you ready for your next travel plan? Wait! Are you sure? We are not talking about your packing, passport, and medicines check thing. Then what? It is about your travel health. When you travel to a different country or location, a healthy travel program will make sure you are well guarded against the illnesses and flues while you are away from your home.

WHO recommends that people should take the necessary travel immunizations and vaccines to ensure safe travel.

Travel clinics are the centers where travel vaccines and shots are provided to protect the person against unexpected diseases on your next travel trip.

But why do you need travel shots or vaccinations in the first place for your international travel trip?

While traveling to the new region, you may come in contact with diseases common in that particular area. For example- yellow fever is common in the different regions of South America and South Africa. So if you are traveling to those areas, you just need to take a yellow fever vaccine.

Also, some vaccines will help you prevent diseases that are commonly caught by people while they are traveling to any location. For example- typhoid, hepatitis-A, etc.

Now that we have known about travel clinics in NYC and travel vaccinations, it is time to head towards the top travel health tips:

Schedule an appointment with a travel doctor at nearby travel clinics in your area. Make sure you visit the travel clinic 3-4 weeks prior to your travel plan.

Please make sure all your routine vaccinations are up to date. Some people might not be vaccinated against routine vaccinations. This can lead to an unsafe travel trip.
Make sure all your recommended travel vaccinations are up to date and make timely visits to travel clinics to get them.

Keep a medical travel kit in your bags. They are essential when you catch common diseases.
Keep your hands cleans and wash your hands before and after having a meal.

Traveling gives us pleasant and fun memories to recall when we are back. Don’t let your unawareness about the travel health and the importance of travel vaccines ruin your trip.

However, typhoid, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, cholera, yellow fever, and traveler’s diarrhea are some of the common illnesses that you need vaccination for if traveling to South America or Asia. Regardless of the place you’re traveling to, you should get the proper vaccination done before boarding.

Changes such as environment, diet, and sleep patterns can worsen your health condition. So, do follow your doctor’s advice while abroad.

Take enough of prescription - Make sure you carry enough of your prescriptions that can stay till the last day of your trip and an extra for a week in case of an emergency or travel delays.

Check your health coverage abroad -  Before taking off, you need to find out whether your health insurance covers your health expenses while you’re away from the country. Even if you’re healthy, it is a great move to check your health coverage in advance.

Stock your travel health kit - No matter where you’re going, basic health essential such as bandages, sanitizer, moleskin, sunscreen, creams to prevent blisters, pain medicine, antibacterial ointment, antihistamines, and pepto bismol can offer a great help during your travel.

If you’re planning to travel overseas, make sure you get your travel shots as well as other traveling essentials before boarding.
